The Federal Government Integrated Relocation Program (IRP) supports and provides assistance to members and employees when they are relocated to new work locations. This includes the Government of Canada, the Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
The buying and selling activity in the spring in the Fredericton area is heavily influenced by IRP. Located in Oromocto is the second largest military base and New Brunswick’s 2nd largest employer with approximately 6500 military and 1000 civilian with the 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown. Many families posted to CFB Gagetown find their home in Oromocto, while others will choose to move to Fredericton or the surrounding rural areas. Fredericton is also home for the Divisional Headquarters for the RCMP “J” Division.
